Uptime 2024 Year in Review
It’s been an exciting and busy year for the Uptime team and there's much to report since our last year in review! With total installs growing by 30%, we were constantly onboarding new merchants—a rewarding challenge to tackle! This growth provided us with an incredible opportunity to collaborate with some of the largest merchants on the Shopify platform.
We’ve also been focused on listening to our customers and delivering the features they’ve been asking for the most. Here’s a snapshot of what we introduced in Uptime over the past year:
New: Prevent false positive test failures by using Fuzzy Match
New: Interacting with custom elements during automated test playback
New: Uptime automated testing analytics on the Overview page
Metric Monitors: Add to cart, reached checkout rate and more
Enhanced ad monitoring
Keeping the performance of your ads running smoothly has never been easier with monitoring options for Google Ads and Facebook Ads added to Uptime in 2024. Uptime detects disruptions affecting the most popular ad platforms and instantly alerts you. Pair these alerts with Downtime Actions to resolve issues in seconds and minimize the financial impact of ad campaign interruptions.

Shopify outages
As we shared in our Hidden Costs of eCommerce Downtime blog post, Shopify does a great job of staying online. Compared to problems caused by human error or theme updates, Shopify downtime is usually less of a worry. Plus, not all downtime affects every merchant since many issues are localized.
By tracking the Shopify Status page, we found 133 unique outages this year—that’s about 11 per month!

The top three services impacted were Admin, Checkout, and Storefront, and there were more outages overall compared to last year.

With Uptime’s real-time Shopify monitoring, we made sure merchants knew about these issues as soon as they were reported on the Shopify Status page.

Third party Shopify app outages
Uptime gives merchants the ability to monitor the status pages of top third-party apps available on the Shopify App Store. This feature helps merchants stay informed about potential service disruptions that could impact their store operations. Currently, Uptime monitors 30 of the most widely used Shopify apps, ensuring comprehensive coverage of the tools merchants rely on most.
Over the past year, Uptime detected an impressive 592 outages from these third-party apps. When you add up the time from when each outage started to when it was resolved, the total downtime amounted to more than 4,709 hours. This highlights just how much disruption can occur without proactive monitoring.

By using Uptime, merchants can get real-time alerts about third-party app issues, helping them respond quickly and minimize the impact on their store. Whether it’s a payment gateway, email marketing app, or any other critical integration, Uptime ensures you’re never left in the dark.
Automated test flows
This year, Uptime merchant's created over 1,400 automated test flows.
These automated test flows tested merchants store functionality over 954,932 times (an 84% increase from last year) – that's 19,017 hours saved by automated testing!
